The Formats

Secure Digital Card (SD Card)


The Secure Digital Card is the most frequently used card in digital cameras, video cameras, PDAs, MP3 players and mobile telephones. The card has a write-protection switch. An encoding function is possible using the serial number of the card. The SD card has a very high writing/reading speed and  is available in 3 sizes:

  SD Card Size: 32 x 24 x 2,1 mm   (256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB)
  SD Card HC Size: 32 x 24 x 2,1 mm   (4 GB up to 32 GB)
  miniSD Size: 21,5 x 20 x 1,4 mm   (256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB)
  microSD Size: 11 x 15 x 1 mm   (256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB)

Multi Media Card (MMC)


The MMC is the predecessor of the SD Card. The card is mostly compatible with SD card readers and is generally used in mobile telephones. The Multi Media Card is available in 2 sizes:

MMC Size: 32 x 24 x 1,4 mm (256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB)
MMC mobile Size: 15 x 24 x 1,4 mm (256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB)

Memory Stick Pro Duo


The Duo is the miniaturised Memory Stick Pro version with an integrated data-encoding "MagicGate". The stick is mainly used for Sony Ericsson mobile telephones and the Play Station Portable. The Memory Stick Pro is available in sizes 31 x 20 x 1,6 mm (256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB).


USB Flash Drive


The popular USB Flash Drives can be used universally and come in a variety of designs, transfer-rates and capacities. The USB 2.0 flash drives are compatible with Windows and Apple Macintosh and come in the following sizes: 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, up to 8 GB. The U3 saves the personal user profile and access data along with the files, creating a mobile workplace.
